I haven’t done a favorites post in a really long time!

But today, I am here to talk about all of my favorite shows that have started again this season! I am excited to start curling up with a snuggly blanket and a project, and diving back into my shows for this new season!

I have to admit – I have an obsession with a good story. I have to be very careful what new shows I start to watch because I get wrapped up in the story almost immediately and I want to know how it all plays out. Then I feel stressed by my DVR. I have to be very picky.

Because of my love of stories, I have a lot of shows that I really like. Although I really like the Amazing Race, I don’t really like reality TV. I’m also really selective about the comedy shows I watch, because I don’t like gimmicky humor, and I don’t like when the dad or husband is portrayed as an idiot, so that takes a lot of shows out of the running.

But I’ve noticed that crime/law dramas are totally my favorite. Police, CIA or other government agency, politics, law firms…so much good drama!! Also, I am realizing that most of my shows are on CBS. It turns out that CBS is consistently in the top spot for most viewers in the week for primetime broadcasts. They just get it right.

So without further ado, my favorite dramas returning to television this fall!!

I have yet another confession to make, you guys.

I’m not the best at “playing.” Never have been. Like not ever – even as a kid. Telling me to use my imagination is like asking me to befriend a centaur.

Create rules to a game? Sign me up. I like order!

Follow the rules to a board game? Sure, sounds like a splendidly organized time!

Imagine a pretend family and their life? A car chase with bad guys? Throw in some dialogue? Stop punking me.

I don’t know what that means.

Sometimes this makes me seem like a really lame mom. There was a time that I would feel like the fragile, sweet little petunias I call my children would be so scarred by this obvious flaw in me.

But then I realized that my kids were doing it all on their own – as long as I didn’t hamper their imagination, they were creating whole alternate universes without my help! I mean, remember when Noah created a whole career, office building, and life for himself? He was doing just fine without me.

Now, when they ask me to play some imagination game, I say, “Hey, I grew two of you! Play with each other!!” Duh.

Happy Wednesday!

I’ve been trying to post this all day! Technology is just not my friend, you guys….

Now that I’ve cried a little, yelled a little, and begged my computer to be kind, it’s time to finally reveal my homeschool room!

I haven’t really gone into why we homeschool so much, but have no fear – we have another 24 days!

Today, we’re just talking logistics.

First of all, this room used to be our playroom. We had a full-sized basketball hoop up there, and not much else. The boys really needed room to run around and play basketball. Plus, we don’t do toys, really.

It was time for the hoop to go outside – as the boys got bigger, their jumping caused more and more of a raucous. Not to mention… it knocked a few light bulbs and light fixtures out of the fan in the dining room directly below the loft.

Well, it’s day 6, and honestly, I’m already struggling.

I have a lot of things to say, and I have plenty of topics planned. And yet, I’m paralyzed.

I keep thinking to myself, “What if what you have to say doesn’t matter? Who’s reading all of these words, anyway? It’s not that big of a deal, maybe you should just quit. No shame in quitting – it’s a really hard challenge.”

It’s not about the numbers – how many people read. My biggest fear when I started this blog was that I would start to become irrelevant or to say things that no one cared about.

Today is going to be a lot lighter than the last few days!

It’s fall break for us, and I mentioned that I don’t want to just make it a time of doing all of my chores. So I’m trying not to make it all about projects and to-do lists.

However, there is a quick little problem that just can’t wait – my van.

While it’s still a million degrees in Arizona, I refuse to vacuum out my car. I’ve been just resigned to the fact that my car will be unvacuumed for the summer. We had a minor rice spill recently, and just…whatever.

But when no one can walk around the car without stepping or sitting on a bunch of junk, it’s time to sweat it out for a few minutes to pull it back together.

Well, shoot.

It seems like I’ve done something not completely right around here, and I have to say that I’m sorry. I need to remedy it before we continue with this challenge.

I’ve really wanted to be vulnerable and honest and show you that I’m flawed, and it looks like I’m not doing enough to prove that.

On Thursday, Noah had a baseball game and on the way, I was supposed to pick up his best friend, JJ, from his grandma on the way.

And. I. Forgot. Him.

On this Saturday night, after baseball, shopping, a birthday party, and the park, it is finally bedtime and time for some laundry.

So I thought that I would just show you a glimpse of what laundry looks like in my life.

Can I just start by saying that you are about to feel so off the hook for laundry? Whatever effort you are putting into doing your laundry is most likely more effort than I’m putting into mine.

Laundry is not a sacred chore in this house – it’s a necessary evil. I have to constantly remind myself that laundry means my children are clothed and to count my blessings instead of cursing my loads and lack of motivation.

I’ve just recently realized something about my blog – I almost never talk about dads. I mean, I’ve had a couple quick little #SpartanLife365 posts about dads, but it hasn’t been anything extensive.

This isn’t that crazy, really…I have a mom blog. Except for the fact that the topic of fatherhood is one of the topics that I am the most passionate about.

When it comes to Raising Spartans, whether they are to be Spartan men or women, a father is one of the most, if not THE most, important components of success.
