A Good and Holy Day

A Good and Holy Day

Today is an important day.

It’s a solemn day.

A hard day.

A beautiful day.

A good day.

It’s Good Friday.

This day is a day to remember that God, in His infinite love for us, said, “I can’t stand this anymore. I need you with me.” So He sent His Son to be one of us.

To meet us right where we are in our brokenness and ugliness and bring us new life.

And in that great love for us, Jesus gave us His very own perfect life so that we might be close to Him again.

Sunday is coming.

But first, Friday is here.

Friday is the day that Jesus was betrayed, falsely accused, mocked, beaten within an inch of His life, and ultimately killed in the most cruel way that ancient Rome could imagine. He was crucified.

For you.

For me.

For all.

His perfect sacrifice satisfied the law once for all. Once for all.

Good Friday Graphic

This is the beauty of today.

His gift doesn’t need to be redone. We don’t have any work to do. We don’t have to complete a checklist, or satisfy any requirements.

And no one is excluded from this gift. It doesn’t matter who you are, what color you are, what position you hold, how much money you do or don’t have, or what you’ve done.

The gift is yours if you’d like it.

He would love to show you a better way to live your life. He’d love to meet you right where you are and love you right where you are.

He died so that He could have that chance.

He defeated death on Sunday. He defeated your death on Sunday.

But today, on Friday, He humbly and sacrificially experienced death so that He could be with you. Forever.

Today is a hard day.

But it’s a good day.

A holy day.

Praise Jesus for Good Friday!
