We’re in the middle of fixing some things in our front yard. We had some very large, very MESSY trees that flanked our driveway. They were pretty from afar but such a hassle to live with.

When the landscapers came to take down the trees, it started okay. They cut down all the branches pretty quickly and things seemed to be going smoothly.

Until they had to take out the stumps.

Do you ever have those days where you think things are kind of going okay, and then all of a sudden stress hits you like a ton of bricks?

That is me today. I have had so much stuff to do, but I totally felt like I had a handle on it.

I’ve been all, “Look at all of the things I’ve crossed off. I’m gonna be totally fine. Look at me go! I got this.”

And then life is all, “Yeah…you so don’t got this. You forgot to unfold the list – there’s a whole other side! Suckaaaa!!”

*Cut to me hyperventilating*

When we were in Dallas a couple weeks ago, Ty and I went to a movie at this cute little eclectic movie theater.

After the movie, as is my custom, I had to go to the bathroom (Seriously. Every. Time. Curse their gallon-sized cups!).

Anyway, when I walked into the stall, I saw that there were messages written all over the walls. People had been adding to the wall for quite some time.

There were dozens and dozens of encouraging, positive messages. “You’re beautiful.” “You’re perfect just the way you are!” It was so great to see – and in such a random place! I was surprised that not even one woman had been rude and added a dumb, negative comment.

There was one message that stood out to me, though. It even stood alone on its own wall like everyone knew it needed a little extra space to be seen.

Stall words - 2

You are worthy of your love.

Think about that for a second. Not “You are worthy of love,” as in the love of others.

You are worthy of YOUR love.

We, as women, wives, moms love everyone else with all of our hearts – to the point of exhaustion. Isn’t it time that we give a little of that to ourselves?

Take some time to say some kind things about you to yourself for a change. Do something to take care of yourself.

I don’t have much more to add to that today. Just that.

You are worthy of your love.

I don’t think that I have ever asked you all to share a post for me. But today I am. Please send this post to some people who need to be reminded of their worthiness today. You can do that with the share buttons at the bottom of the post. Thank you for spreading love with me!

In my house, there are 5 bedrooms, and 5 bathrooms. There are also 3 boys and, well, me.

Growing up, my mom would just close my door when my room was a mess – we fought about enough…she just let it go. In high school, I was hit or miss, but as I got older, I started to pull it together. When I was in college and had my own space, it was immaculate. Bathroom – spotless. Bed – made. Clothes – folded and away. Bless my grown-up single self.

Then came a husband, and I really kept up with cleaning with another human very well. I was okay with the extra laundry, having a boy in my bathroom…ah, young love.

I had my first baby, and I was committed to keeping up with having a clean house. I found some shortcuts and just made it a point to stay up a little bit longer and get things picked up before I went to bed.

Next came another baby, and well…just whatever.

Prepare yourself. There will be a lot of random mixing of imagery and metaphors today. Just stick with me. I know I’m a little…crazy. I think it’ll make sense by the end. Maybe.

Today at church, I got caught up in watching the band.

They were rocking. out. The base player was dancing and stomping his feet, the drummer was jammin’, and the lead guitarist was smiling from ear to ear.

A lightbulb went on in my head. Actually, God turned on the lightbulb and then He started talking and I started listening.

He told me that when we do things using the gifts that He has given us, we feel so at home. Keeping our eyes in our lane, on our own race, we are able to run so much faster and accomplish so much more.

I think that as women, especially as moms, we tend to look at other people doing their thing and feel like we should be doing their thing, too.

Yikes! It turns out I skipped another day, but this time it was unintentional.

I woke up this morning and fell into a big funk. I was feeling like a failure. I started telling God what a mistake He’d made having me do this – who am I that people want to hear from me…especially every day for a month?!

I said, “Maybe I need to quit the challenge. There’s not much traction here. I feel like I’m talking about nothing. Are you sure I’m supposed to even be blogging? I mean, seriously…”

After one missed day of blogging, you guys.

I may have overreacted a little, I realize that now. I just get crazy a little insecure sometimes.

Aaaannnyway…I’ve calmed down considerably. God has reminded me ever so gently that this is not about me, and that He’s put me here with instructions for a reason.

So, that’s been my morning. Just keeping it real.

Now on to other things!

If you know me even a tiny bit, what I’m about to say is not in the least bit shocking.

I love food.

Growing up, my dad was a chef and my mom was a pastry chef. Delicious food is a key pillar of life for us. I eat one meal dreaming about the next.

But here’s the thing – I don’t love making the food. I did, once upon a time. It was so fun to cook something extravagant on a random Saturday night. But then, these people that lived with me wanted to eat three times a day…I mean, what’s their problem, amiright?

In Jen Hatmaker’s book, For the Love (read it, you won’t regret it), she talks about being on a balance beam and trying to balance all the things in your life. She gave the image of having to throw some things “off the beam” and keep some important things “on the beam” to stay balanced.

Well, folks. I’m proud to announce that cooking is “off the beam” for me in this season of my life!

Well, I did it.

I skipped a day.

Thankfully, it was a conscious choice, and I am proud of the decision. How many times do I let myself say that? {Hint: it starts with an “n”, and ends with “ever”} I was just enjoying my boys yesterday, and I decided that I wasn’t really willing to take time away to post. You probably needed a break, too, so…you’re welcome, really.

Yesterday my mother-in-law and I took the boys to the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, and my kids were in Heaven!

My picture on Instagram was of both boys painting. I talked about how great it was to see Noah just being a kid – a normal six-year-old. He never just takes time to be six. He’s always trying to be an adult, and so many times he gets pretty darn close.

As a matter of fact, since most schools are back in session, he really was one of the older kids there.

It was Stroller City up in there. Holy. Moly.
