Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I am SO. GLAD. that you’re here. In this place we explore what it means to be wives, women, and moms. We’re navigating what it means to balance a heart like Mary’s with hands like Martha’s. And perhaps most importantly, we are learning how to become Spartan mothers raising Spartan children.
I am a sinner saved by grace. The way that Jesus relentlessly pursues my soul never ceases to amaze me, and the deep love that I have for Him will cause me to chase after Him for the rest of my days. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be held by a big God that welcomes my questions and frustrations, my hard stuff, and my hurt. He has given me this blog as a safe place for us to be honest and rest – together.
I am a wife. In 2007, when we were just babies, I married Ty. Hand-in-hand, we jumped in with both feet and never looked back. Starting a family with him was one of the best decisions I have ever made – he is just the most incredible dad to our boys. Together we work hard to play harder. He’s my best friend and my most favorite thing. Loving him will always be my greatest adventure.
I am a mom. Being a mom to two boys is a journey like I never expected. It is filled with fun, danger, joy, love, and chaos. Learning to hold my children with open hands has changed me for the better in so many ways. I’m so honored that I get to show up every day for the beautiful life that it is to be their mom. It’s humbling to know that the job of teaching them to be Spartans – people who look outside of their little worlds with compassion and live with a purpose bigger than themselves – has been entrusted to me.
I am a friend. I live for spending time laughing, talking, and living with my people. One of the things that I cherish the most is seeing my home full of friends and family. It is never too late for you to stay at my home – I am always sad to see you go.
I am a traveller. Travel is foundational for us as a family. It’s important to us that we are reminded that there is a great big world out there, and that we are so small. We want our kids to understand that the world does not revolve around them, and there is no better way to do that than to see the rest of the world functioning in its own culture, and seeing people and ways of living that are different from theirs.
I am an extrovert. I love people. I want to know them and love them – their lives, their hopes and dreams, their pain, their story. Where there is food, chatter, and people, that is my jam.
I am a mountain girl. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, in a small little ski town near Aspen (maybe you’ve heard of it?), I became a limited lover of nature and the outdoors. I’ll just skip the snow, thankyouverymuch (thus my Arizona address). Give me sunshine and a lake any day.
I am a hodgepodge. I have a very much under control obsession with cake, if I do say so myself. However, if I must choose a last meal, it would be tacos. And pizza. Yeah. Tacos and pizza to end my life for sure. I’m a nerd at heart and can appreciate good grammar and word games. In my opinion, everything needs a splash of color. My go-to wardrobe options are usually some form of lace, because…girly.
I am a writer. My mom gave me my love of words, both written and spoken. She told me that my words will always matter, and to choose them wisely. Words always have been my ticket to the world. Without them, I’d have no opinion, no story, no love of learning, no voice. I am so very grateful for this platform that God has given me to share His words.
I hope you stay and join me in this place. My promise to you is that I will never pull any punches, or hide behind any façade. This life is messy…and hard…and beautiful. I promise to keep showing up here to remind you that, “Me, too.”
To our Mary, Martha, & Sparta lives, and with all of my love,
